Your European rail journey, planned for you.

Plan your journey with confidence
Planning a multi-city rail trip can mean hours comparing railway websites, ticket types, routes, reservations and connections. Let Rail-Away do the research for you.
For ยฃ30, I’ll create a personalised rail itinerary based on your plans โ with the trains, operators, travel times, prices and booking options you need to turn your ideas into a trip. You choose where you want to go. I work out how to get there.
Youโll receive a clear, practical itinerary showing how to travel between each destination, which trains to consider and where to book your tickets.
Youโll be taken to Buy Me a Coffee to purchase the service and provide the details of your trip.
European rail planning, without the research rabbit hole
Rail travel across Europe isn’t always as simple as finding a train and buying a ticket. Different countries use different railway companies, booking systems, ticket types and reservation requirements.
That’s where Rail-Away comes in.
With years of experience travelling by train across Europe, I’ll research the practical details and put everything together into one clear, personalised plan.
You don’t need to spend your evening jumping between railway websites trying to work out what connects to what. I’ll do that part.
Whatโs included?
Your personalised itinerary includes practical information for each part of your journey, including:
- A day-by-day itinerary tailored to your trip
- Recommended trains and operators
- Train numbers and departure/arrival times
- Travel class options
- Point-to-point ticket prices
- Interrail/Eurail options where relevant
- Reservation requirements and costs
- Direct links to booking websites
- Practical notes to help you book with confidence
Weโll also compare different booking options where appropriate, helping you identify where to buy your tickets and which option offers the best value for your particular journey.
The research is done for you. The final booking remains in your hands.
See an example itinerary
Your itinerary is presented in a clear format, bringing your train details and ticketing options together in one place.
For each journey, you can see the recommended train alongside the available point-to-point fare, Interrail reservation costs and direct booking links.
We can also highlight useful details specific to your journey, such as scenic sides of the train, connections or things to check when booking.

This means you don’t need to work through multiple railway websites and try to piece everything together yourself.
The research is done for you. The final booking remains in your hands.
How Plan My Trip works
1. Tell us about your trip
When you purchase Plan My Rail Trip, youโll complete a short form with details such as:
- Your travel dates
- Origin and destination cities
- How long you plan to spend in each location
- Passenger ages, where relevant for discounts
- Your travel preferences
- Any special requirements
You don’t need to have every part of your journey worked out already. That’s what the service is for.
2. We research your options
Weโll research the available rail journeys and compare the options for your itinerary.
This includes checking point-to-point fares and, where relevant, Interrail/Eurail options.
Different countries and operators use different booking systems, so weโll also identify the recommended place to purchase each ticket.
3. Receive your personalised itinerary
Your completed itinerary will normally be delivered by email within 72 hours.
You’ll receive the information and links you need to make your bookings yourself.
Who is Plan My Rail Trip for?
Plan My Rail Trip is perfect if you:
- Know where you want to go but don’t know how to connect it by rail
- Are planning your first multi-country European rail trip
- Don’t have time to research multiple railway websites
- Want to compare rail tickets with Interrail/Eurail
- Have particular preferences for scenic routes, high-speed trains or night trains
- Simply want someone who knows European railways to check your plans
Already have your itinerary worked out?
That’s fine too. I can research the trains, fares and booking options for you.
Independent travel, with a helping hand
Plan My Rail Trip isn’t a travel agency service and we don’t book your tickets for you.
Instead, we provide the research and practical information you need to make your own bookings.
This means you remain in control of your trip, while benefiting from Rail-Away’s experience of travelling by train across Europe and navigating the different operators, routes and ticketing systems.
What about ticket prices?
Rail fares, like air fares, can change according to demand and availability, so prices shown in your itinerary are accurate at the time of research and may change before you book.
We recommend booking as soon as you are ready, particularly where low-cost or advance fares are available.
Some operators also have different booking horizons, meaning tickets may not yet be available for your chosen travel dates. Where this happens, we’ll provide guidance on when to check and a guide price where possible.
Planning a bigger trip?
Plan My Rail Trip is designed for itineraries of a maximum of four travel days and five stopover locations.
If you’re planning a more extensive or complex European rail adventure, Plan My Rail Trip Plus provides additional planning capacity. Both are available at the link below.
